CUBE PANIC

A wall of cubes is rolling at you, one step per beat. It does not stop. It does not slow down. You cannot outrun it — you can only read it.

So you mark a tile and step out of the line. Then you wait, while the cube grinds toward the exact square you marked. The instant it lands, you hit the button.

JUST. Double score — and the wave speeds up, because this game rewards you by making it worse.

Miss, and the cube rolls past you and off the edge, tearing a strip of your floor away with it. The arena shrinks. Fewer squares to stand on, less room to dodge, less time to think. Lose the whole floor and it is over.

Cutting it close is the whole point

Step out of a cube’s path at the last possible moment and you get paid for it. Line your traps up where the wave will be thickest, and the board does the rest — they wait, then go off together. Anyone can survive a wave. The score is in how late you dare to leave it.

The cubes

• Grey — the standard cube. Mark it, wait, crush it.
• Gold — JACKPOT. Takes out a 3×3 block around it.
• Green — leaves a trap on the floor. Traps hold, then go off by themselves at the exact moment the wave is on top of them.
• Black — cannot be crushed. Dodge it — or PURGE it with a stationary JUST, if you are feeling brave.
• Rainbow — clears the entire board.

Controls

• Arrow keys / WASD — move
• Space — mark a tile, then press again the moment a cube lands on it
• E — set your traps off early (they fire automatically otherwise)
• P pause  ·  M mute  ·  R retry
• Phones and tablets — swipe to move, tap the buttons to act
